"Human beings are not aware of their assumptions and basic beliefs, much as fish are unaware of the water in which they live."

truths, pseudo truths, and untruths;
lies; pseudo lies and white lies.
not mutually exclusive.

-

people often tear down walls of the comfort zone that they choose to indulge in without realizing that they immediately come face to face to another set of walls that they require to identify and demolish before knowing what is actually going on.

it is not about what why when where who or how
it is not about the process, the emotions tha trigger the senses
but it's everything of the above.

or is it not?
there is no right or wrong.

that peak cap
sits on the shelf in that lonely corner
dilapidated as it seems

the dreams it represented
the times it had brought one through
may never be so again,

so says the dust layer building up on the brim
for the integrity of the crest it represents
and the probity that one expects.

without a care
do the leaves rustle?

the gusty wind bellows
with the chill sinking through.

deeply submerged
in reverie that breeds;

"perhaps", they say

petals,
they fall,
across the grass
they drift and they roll

the wind blows,
gusty as it can be,
caressing,
chilling,
tingling your ears as it seemingly breathes

petals,
they all fall, don't they?

once fallen, detached, for a whole new world to be seen

who's right?
and so they laugh
with persistance and insistence of their authority
foolish believing in the apparent
and the seemingly unyielding/single sided truth

how can any one be sure?
full of ridicule it seems
they crash their fist onto others in their unyielding belief in destiny
curiously unaware of the other side of the truth they've never seen.

for all that it seems to bring.

The only Zen you find on tops of mountains is the Zen you bring there. - Robert M. Pirsi

This is a Zen story retold...
Someone noticed a man standing alone atop a mountain.
Another person comes along.

A: What are you doing?
B: I'm wondering what that man is wondering up there.
A: Maybe he isn't wondering anything, just hanging around.
B: Maybe he's resting.
A: Maybe he's appreciating the scenery.
B: Maybe he's looking for a place in the distance.
A: Maybe he's very troubled.
B: Maybe he's looking for peace.
A: Maybe he's reflecting on his life.
B: Maybe he's contemplating suicide.
A: Maybe he's enjoying the sun and breeze.
B: Maybe he's stuck up there.
A: Maybe he's wondering what to do.
B: Maybe we should ask him what he is doing.

They climb the mountain together.
With burning curiosity, they approached the man, asking him,
"Excuse us, but can we know what are you doing here?"
The man simply replied, "I'm just standing here."
The two were so stunned that they just stood there in silence.
It was the first time they had ever "just stood there".
Now, there are three men "just standing" atop the mountain.
Or are there four people? Are you there too?
Were you wondering what the man was doing too?
What are you doing? Can you "just stand there" too? - Shen Shi'an
